In 1947, Dr.Kwame Nkrumah was invited by Dr.Ako Adjie one of the big six.He arrives in Ghana then Gold Coast on Monday,10th December,1947 from England.On Wednesday,29th December 1947,he delivered his first public speech at the Optimistism Club Accra.
He and other leaders of U.G.C.C were arrested and detained on Friday,12 March 1948.On Thursday 7th April 1948, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah resigned as a U.G.C.C general secretary.He organized the committee on Youth organization on Wednesday 26th January 1949.On Sunday,12th June,1949. he inaugurated his party Convention People's Party(CCP).Dr.kwame Nkrumah launched his positive action strike on 9th January 1950,Monday.
On Friday,20th February,1956. he won the election to independence and opened the first parliament.On Wednesday,6th march 1957,He declared Ghana independence.Dr Kwame Nkrumah attended the conference of common wealthof prime ministes.Monday,14th July,1958, he introduced Ghana currency.Dr Nkrumah said Ghanais freeand free forever on 6th march 1957 when the nation attained her independence.
On Friday,1st July,1960, Nkrumah declared Ghana Republic and became first Ghanaian President. He declares Ghana as party state and the lawful, Political Party Convention people's party(CPP)in 1964.On Thursday 24th February,1966,he was overthrown in a coup detat.while on a trip to Hanoi-North Vietnam.
On Wednesday 27th April,1972.Dr Kwame Nkrumah died in Romania.he was 63 years and 6 years in office as a president.He was buried in Ghanaat his home Town Nkruful on Friday,7th July 1972.In 1986 Ex president Flt.J.J Rawlings gave him a state burial at Accra. He built Tema Harbour in the year 1962.Dr.kwame Nkrumah built Akosombo dam from 1962 and completed in 1963.
