Social and political life of Mr.John Agyekum Kuffour

Mr.John Agyekum Kuffour was on Tuesday,8th December 1938 at Dabaan near Kumasi im the Ashanti region.His father is called Nana Agyekum,His Mother Nana Ama Dapaah.Mr Agyekum Kuffour had a wife named Theresa Aba Kuffour with four children.He attended Government Boys school,Kumasi Mr.J.A.Kuffour attended Kumasi Prempeh College and took further studies in Law at Oxford University. Mr J.A Kuffour became the City Manager and chief legal Officer of Kumasi City Council in 1967-1969.He was a memeber the constitution that ushered the country into the second republic.He won the Nwabiaga Parliamentary seat in Ashanti Region in 1969. 1969-1972,He became the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs during Busia's administration.Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya on the ticket of (PFP) and became the Deputy leader and spokesman for the Popular Front Party on Foreign. In 1982,Mr.John Agyekum Kuffour was appointed minister of Local Government but fell out because of what was termed policy difference with the government.He became the chairman of fabulous Asanate Kotoko Football club in 1973-1978.Mr j.A.Kuffour emerged victorious in the NPP primaries led to the great alliance of P.C.P.to the general election against President Rawlings in 1996.Mr J.A.Kuffour lost the election by scoring 40% He won the Presidential seat again Professor J.E.atta mills of N.D.C.in 2000 election.On Sunday,7th January,2001 sworn in as President of fith Republic.
